Nagle Notes: Experience

Hello people of the future,

Earlier this month, a blogger I enjoy sent out a request for a researcher/writer for their team. This sounded interesting so I decided to check out the job requirements. Going through them all I realized I could (in theory) fill this position. The requirements weren’t difficult, mostly it was a request to see your portfolio (or oeuvre for the high brow of y’all). I realized if I started creating now, in a year or two I would feel confident enough to apply. This is how most goals are achieved.

With any “passion”, your taste and execution will never converge. You might be able to hear a melody but can’t play an instrument, or know your stick figure drawings are subpar. Having good taste is how you grow. Your relationship with failure matters more than the outcome. Everyone will fail, but the narrative you choose to write for yourself to believe will change if you eventually become the person you want to be.

Climbing the mountain, you hold the dream of the view from the top, but focus on the pebble you can step over in front of you.

Onwards,
Nagle
